I recently saw the "Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann" for the first time after a *long* time. It is a VCA release now and, if memory serves, it is shamelessly chopped as well. You see there is a scene somewhere in the film (so I recall from my original viewing) where the lovely Barbara Bourbon is picked up in a street by two of her servants (Jamie Gillis and a woman) and is "forced" to have sex with them (the whole thing is strictly "roleplaying"). This scene is walloped out of the video copy similarly the Magnificent Seven segment of "Seven into Snowy" is now reduced to a pitiful 2 minutes. Unfortunately, unlike Snowy, "Pamela Mann" suffers from rather poor camera work during the sex scenes (huge genitals effect), so the cut leaves a rather sorry corpse of a porn movie.

Overall the film is a classic, though the plot gets a bit repetitive after a while and this, along with the excessive use of the closeup, kinda spoils the fun. No rating, but certainly this is not to be missed if only for historical purposes. Barbara Bourbon is a fox, and since she only made 3 films you might want to check her out. Be warned however; if you are feeling horny, you might want to get another tape for "insurance".

Starring: Barbara Bourbon played Pamela Mann, a young lady who loves to spend her afternoons in search of pleasure of the most 'private' nature. She is really quite beautiful and gives a very convincing performance. I think she really enjoyed making this film.
Georgina Spelvin, actress par excellance, makes an appearance as an equally sensual girlfriend who manages in one really hot scene, to convince a young actor that he isn't really gay. She also later has an encounter with Pamela.
A young Eric Edwards plays the private eye hired by Pamela's husband to tail her and report back to him with film and photos of her 'private afternoons'. He manages to bed the luscious Ms. Bourbon in one of the most erotic, mesmerizing sex scenes ever filmed.

This is an older film, fom the late 70's. Once you get past the older clothing styles, the movie is hot. Shot on film, rather than tape, it has a depth and quality that video tends to lose. The music track is dated, but it far surpasses other movies of the era. The exteriors of New York add to the story's atmosphere.

The idea of this woman enjoying countless afternoons of sexual pleasure and experimentation while her husband is reduced to a peeping Tom role, makes the sex all the more erotic. Ms. Bourbon's ability to show her enjoyment of sex certainly adds to the appeal of this movie. She manages to find out who she wants and goes right after him/her.

The sex scenes were well shot, well lit and very believeable. The performers were all good looking and the dialogue was relatively free of nonsensical lines. Not too much bad acting in this film.

There is an annoying scene where a guy from Mann's husband's office jerks off into Mann's husband's secretary's face. It appears as a vignette, sort of a Greek chorus, between scenes. It only manages to lessen the impact of the preceding sex scene.

It is a film with a story, not a sophomoric story like so many adult films. It has an interesting, forbidden erotic nature. The entire story revolves around the detective and his voyeuristic following of Pamela Mann. A voyeuristic film for voyeuristic people. Especially recommended for couples.
