1. Who starred in the movie, and what did you think of their performances?
Tom Byron gets the lion's share of the screen time in this 1984 film, but he shares it with some very hot ladies -- notably Ginger Lynn, still early in her career. Luscious Tanya Lawson, lusty Laurie Smith, and delicious Lois Ayres (aka Sondra Stillman) also grace the screen, along with Crystal Breeze and Renee Tiffany. Jerry Butler is the only other male of note. Several other mid-80s hotties -- Raven, Gina Carrera, Misty Regan, Kristara Barrington, Rosie Marie, Cynthia Brooks, and Roxanne Rolland -- also are on display but only in brief scenes of undress and sexplay. Not seen in the video version is the teenager who originally had top billing -- Traci Lords. At least producer Jerry Ross didn't have to ditch the entire film, simply excising Traci's lone scene when it was discovered that she had been under 18 when it was filmed. The acting is above average for porn, with Tom & Jerry, Tanya, Laurie, and Ginger standing out in more ways than one. 2. What did you think of the film’s production values?
This is well-made porn by the standards of the mid-80s. The photography is crisp and well-lit, the editing is well-paced in the sex scenes, and Ross directed with a skilled eye for capturing the feel and atmosphere of "Risky Business," the Tom Cruise hit that inspired this porn knock-off. (We could have done without Tom's "aw, shucks" narration, though.) The movie was filmed in and around some opulent homes that add to the sense of glitz and polish. 3. How do you rate the film’s eroticism?
For a plot-heavy couples films, this one should appeal to romantics and strokers alike. It's hot! Matt (Tom) is a virginal teenager who constantly daydreams about the Gloria (Ginger), the blonde tease next door. We first see a fantasy that turns into a summons to the bedroom of Gloria's hot-to-trot mama (Laurie). Always nasty and vocal, she really enjoys tearing into Tom's big cock -- a real treat for older-woman fanciers, despite Laurie's relative youth. Matt's parents take off on a trip, leaving Matt alone to await the arrival of his economics tutor and warning him to avoid his ne'er-do-well brother, Vince. Vince (Jerry), of course, arrives and ransacks the kitchen, where he finds a "gift certificate" for an escort service. Knowing Matt desperately wants to get laid, Vince phones for an out-call appointment. She arrives at Matt's house in the form of Tanya, who proceeds to deflower the guy in a sensuous, beautifully lit couch trip. Tanya demonstrates why, despite a short career, she was a mid-80s cult fave. Not wanting to lose his new "love," Matt agrees to turn over the house to the escort service, and soon the place is overrun with gorgeous whores in various states of undress and doing lots of nasty stuff. Vince, who's getting frustrated himself over another blonde tease (Lois) who won't give him the time of day, hears of the action at Matt's and heads for home, arriving just in time to watch Crystal and Renee put on a hot little lesbo show for a svelte Ron Jeremy. When Ron and Crystal head for the bed (and why don't we see that coupling?), Vince comforts Renee with a frantic rug fuck. Matt, fearful that his studly older brother is going to seduce his special whore, seeks some comfort from Gloria, but she flames him for not inviting her to the "party" she thinks Matt is throwing. Gloria then goes off to the shower, where she strokes her lithe body and sensuously soaps herself. Matt reappears, sporting good wood and insisting that Gloria fuck and make up. What follows is indeed a terrific shower scene -- Tom licking Ginger's cute kitty, then plugging her from behind under the spray, and finally shooting a big load into her eager mouth. Feeling good, he returns home to find that his parents are expected any moment, and he must get the whores out of the house. To complicate matters, the economics tutor shows up -- none other than Lois. Confronting her, Vince forces an admission of desire and they fling a furious fuck on the dining room table. The parents arrive in time to bid a puzzled farewell to Matt's lady friend, and to bring him some good news that adds a warm twist to this satisfying film. 4. What did you like most about this movie?
Before he discovered facial hair, earrings, and directing, Tom Byron was always a delight to watch on the screen, with an innocent face, hard body, and big, very photogenic cock. If that sounds gay, so be it. "Kinky Business" is a prime example of why Tom became a porn legend. His scenes with Laurie, Tanya, and Ginger are the backbone (so to speak) of this flick. So he can direct, pierce his ears, and not shave if he wants to. Guys, want to introduce your lady to hardcore? Here's a good option. 5. What did you enjoy least about this film?
Both of Jerry's sex scenes last hardly more than a minute. What's your hurry, guy? It also would have been nice to see Crystal and Ron in a full scene, or Raven or Misty or Kristara or one of the other "background whores" take on a john for more than a few teasing seconds. And: In recutting this film, Ross should have made the Tom & Ginger scene the climactic coupling -- boy finally gets girl -- instead of leaving it in the middle. 6. What is your overall opinion of the film? How would you rate it on a scale of one to ten?
Whatever its flaws, this is an above-average couples movie of its era, and strokers who admire the females in this cast also should enjoy it. RATING: 7
